sFTP

sFTP – Secure File Transfer Protocol is a network file transfer protocol (FTP) with added security. FTP is a basic file sharing protocol. sFTP was designed as an extension of SSH by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). SSH is the Secure Shell and is a way of gaining remote command-line access to a system. The sFTP design includes encrypted FTP commands to prevent sensitive information being passed across a link in plain text. An sFTP client is authenticated by a server to prevent pretend sFTP clients accessing sensitive information.
