TCP/IP – Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol. a method of sending data across an IP (Internet Protocol) network. TCP ensures that packets are not lost and damaged. It numbers packets, addresses them and has the receiving address acknowledge delivery. Lost packets are thus detected and retransmitted.
