LBA – Logical Block Address – used in a hard disk drive (HDD) addressing scheme to identify blocks on the drive and so read data from or write data to them. The disk with its platters is treated as a single logical drive with sectors (blocks) having a unique number in a linear sequence starting from zero. The HDD controller translates logical block addresses into specific sectors on specific tracks (cylinders) on specific platter surfaces (heads).
