WLAN – Wireless LAN – a local area network implanted using wireless (radio transmission) links between endpoint devices instead of electrical cables. The WLAN sends and receives information over radio waves and data is sent in packets. These contain labels and instructions that, along with the unique MAC (Media Access Control) addresses assigned to endpoints, enable message routing to intended locations. A home WiFi network is a WLAN.
