SPC – Storage Performance Council – an industry standard storage system benchmarking organisation. The SPC’s SPC-1 benchmark tests the block performance attributes of a storage array responding to business-critical workload IO requests. It measures SPC-1 input/output operations per second (IOPS), price per IOPS, response time, capacity and price per gigabyte.
The Storage Performance Council’s SPC-2 benchmark measures overall storage array performance in throughput (MB/sec) and (discounted) price/performance terms. These numbers are calculated from three component workloads: large file processing; large database query; and video-on-demand.
