Komprise has joined the HPE Complete programme – which means HPE can resell its data management software along with HPE storage arrays.
A 13-page Komprise-HPE Reference Architecture document tells people how to build a Komprise data management system featuring Apollo and ProLiant servers, StoreEasy and Qumulo filers, and Scality RING object storage software.
The big deal here is preventing primary NAS storage from getting choked with old and unchanging data. Komprise does this by pumping the data out to backend S3-compatible storage without changing application access paths to the files.

Komprise has hired Chris Moore as SVP worldwide sales. He replaces Tony Craythorne who resigned in April to become CEO at Kaleao, a manufacturer of converged hardware and software systems.
Moore has a 25 year-plus track record at high-growth startups which have had successful exits, including Codenvy (Red Hat), Kace Networks (Dell), AvantGo (IPO; Sybase) and Genesys (IPO, Alcatel).
The company also hired Randy Hopkins as its VP for global systems engineering and enablement. He’s another 25+ year vet with enablement programs at two startup companies, Data Domain (IPO) and Nimble Storage (IPO), and roles at Pure Storage, EMC, Dell, and HPE.
Note the emphasis on the IPO and acquisition history of the companies that Moore and Hopkins have worked for. Komprise, founded in 2014 and beneficiary of $75m in venture capital, wants a successful exit.
The Komprise founders, CEO Kumar Goswami, COO Krishna Subramanian and CTO Mike Peercy, previously set up Kaviza, which built a VDI-in-a-box system for small and medium enterprises, and sold it to Citrix in 2011. Before that they set up Kovair, which is trading today.
