NetApp finds its new strategy chief

NetApp has filled its Chief Strategy Officer slot after an 11-month search.

Atish Gude joins the storage giant from Verizon, where he was SVP of corporate strategy. He reports directly to CEO George Kurian, who says he knows how to “turn strategy into operating results.”

Gude has a telecoms background and his resume includes stints at Verisign, Clearwire Communications and Sprint Nextel.  Nevertheless NetApp believes his experience in identifying and driving new opportunities will make him useful.

His predecessor Jonathan Kissane left NetApp in October last year to take up a senior role at Visa.
