Numonyx may close California Technology Center
posted on 15 August 2008 16:15
Online outlet Fabtech reports Numonyx is going to cut costs by closing its California Technology Centre in Santa Clara.
Numonyx is the Intel and STMicroelectronics-owned flash memory joint venture. It uses this Santa Clara establishment, previously owned by Intel as its Fab 1, for R&D. The employees were told a few days ago and the plant will close by April next year. Numonyx also has a Fab at Kiryat Gat in Israel and recently laid off contract workers there.
In these straightened times with joint product development efforts with Hynix, Numonyx is cutting its now excess R&D capabilities.
