Archive storage specialist strengthens European management with strategic appointment

Cambridge, UK, 05 August 2008: Plasmon (LSE:PLM), the trusted source in archiving solutions, today announced the appointment of Colin Horne, to the position of vice president of EMEA sales & customer support.

Colin joins Plasmon after eight years with EMC as a sales manager. Based in PlasmonÕs Cambridge, UK office, Horne takes over the responsibilities of David Thomson who is moving into global sales programs and operations role.

With more than 20 years of storage and IT industry expertise at EMC, Nortel, Cabletron and Data General, Horne brings extensive sales and customer relationship experience to the Plasmon sales team. He is responsible for the management and development of PlasmonÕs four regional teams which oversee sales and support operations in Europe, Middle East, Africa and India. One major objective of HorneÕs role will be to expand PlasmonÕs customer base by growing new archive sales and leveraging channel reach through the recently announced relationship with NetApp. This quarter he will be working with the EMEA team to launch the new NetArchiveª solution that combines Plasmon Archive File Manager software and Archive Appliance with NetApp storage technology. NetArchive is a powerful solution that provides the most cost effective and lowest energy consumption archive for unstructured data.

"I am very pleased to be stepping into my new responsibility at this particular stage in the market. Archive requirements are now established as a major priority within the enterprise and have much greater visibility with senior management," explained Horne. "I've seen first hand how organisations can struggle with the optimisation of storage resources and their obligations for risk mitigation and compliance, while balancing this against the need for greener data centre strategies. Plasmon's archive solutions are perfectly suited to satisfy these enterprise demands. It's a fantastic market opportunity that I look forward to developing with the Plasmon sales and marketing team.2

"Colin's experience is a great addition to our European operations," commented Steven Murphy, CEO of Plasmon. "He has an excellent track record for establishing strong customer relationships; something Plasmon sees as essential for both his sales and customer support responsibilities. Colin has the experience to manage the sales process for our increasingly sophisticated archive solutions, while helping Plasmon build a more customer centric focus."
