DRAM demand drops

posted on 27 June 2008 11:46

Chinese pirate demand stopped in its tracks

Digitimes reports that demand for DRAM has fallen because the Chinese authorities are cracking down on contraband DRAM sales by Internet cafes in the run-up to the Beijing Olympics.

This is a kind of DRAM gray importing with so-called underground Internet cafes, seemingly the equivalent of an Internet-connected car boot or yard sale, shut down. The customs procedure for DRAM imports has also become more involved which has slowed down the import delivery rate.

The weaker Chinese DRAM market adds more woe to the seasonally weak DRAM market.
