HDS' Storage Capacity Reporter uses Aptare software
posted on 27 May 2008 16:34
The Storage Capacity Reporter feature of Hitachi Data Systems' new Storage Command Suite is based on Aptare's StorageConsole 6.5
StorageConsole 6.5 uses Web 2.0 and AJAX technologies that create real-time interactive reports as well as historical capacity views, forecasting and predictive analysis. The aimis for users to optimize their storage resources and reduce costs.
Storage Capacity reporter gives users "application-to-spindle" views into actual capacity. Aptare and HDS say organizations using it can allocate storage more efficiently to maximize its usage, and significantly reduce costs by delaying the need for future storage purchases.
Peter Smails, HDS' senior director for global product marketing, said: "The combination of our new Hitachi Storage Command Suite and its backup and recovery reporting features powered by APTARE's StorageConsole 6.5 technology provides customers with unique monitoring capabilities so they can best manage, report and optimize their complex storage environments."
StorageConsole has an agent-less architecture and can extend Web 2.0 functionality to future applications. It means HDS can extend the usefulness of its Storage Capacity Reporter product if it wishes.
Other Aptare StorageConsole products include StorageConsole Backup Manager for backup reporting and management and StorageConsole Capacity Manager for primary storage capacity reporting. All the StorageConsole products are available directly from Aptare or its channel partners.
