HONG KONG, May 21, 2008 - Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST) has donated RMB1.2 million to support the Sichuan earthquake relief program. The donation includes RMB1 million from the company, and more than RMB300,000 from the employees of Hitachi GST’s three manufacturing facilities in Shenzhen.

Hua Ping, Chief Representative, Greater China, Hitachi GST, delivered the donation to the relevant authorities. On behalf of the company and its employees, Hua Ping expressed condolence to the victims and sincere regards to the people who are affected.

“The tragedy has caused great suffering for our people and our country. Chinese people have demonstrated courage, commitment, and unity out of this tragic incident,” said Hua Ping. “As a corporate citizen rooted in China, Hitachi GST organized a donation program among employees, which received more than RMB 300,000 from our employees. The company has also donated RMB1 million to support the relief program. We hope our efforts can help rescue and recovery efforts in the affected areas.”

In addition to the above donation, Hitachi GST has contributed to Hitachi Ltd.’s effort to support the Sichuan earthquake relief program. Hitachi Ltd. has also donated relief supplies valued at RMB8 million, including RMB1 million in cash and rescue and reconstruction equipment.
