Why is EMC announcing these things now?

Next week EMC has its mega EMC World event in Las Vegas. So why is it announcing relative, well, trivia now?
Today we get a maintenance release of GDDR extending 3-site mainframe disaster recovery down to dual site setups. It's worthy of an announcement but why not wait until next week and get added EMC World razzmataz?
A day or so ago we got the announcement of new EMC Documentum products bringing XML technology into play. Worthy again but why not wait. Neither are exactly earth-shattering.
I reckon EMC is getting the dull stuf out of the way before EMC world where much is promised and these ordinary announcements would just get over-shadowed.
We've heard a rumour of deduplicating VTLs already. There's speculation that the Hulk/Maui web 2.0/cloud computing products (think XIV competition) will be announced too.
An EMC blogger is finding it hard to suppress his excitement. Here are recent blogs:-
