Only two pure plays

There are only two pure play storage companies in the Aberdeen Groups's Top 100 Most Influential Technology Vendors for 2008 list.

These are the vendors having the most impact on the market. EMC and NetApp are the pure play storage vendors at number 9 and number 57 respectively.

Mixed play vendors with a strong storage component to their business are Symantec at 58, Hitachi at 66, and ... well, that's it.

The top four places are held by Microsoft (1), Oracle (2), SAP (3) and IBM (4).
