Dell's storage tweak
posted on 07 May 2008 15:28
Dell has announced servers better configured for virtualisation environments and a raft of virtualisation services. It has improved the way its EqualLogic storage arrays work with a part of VMware too.
The company says they now offer 'SAN-aware integration with VMware Site Recovery Manager'. This gives, Dell says, better data protection and disaster recovery in VMware virtualised environments with no additional cost in management tools. Dell says customers can more easily provision and manage their (VMware) virtual storage environments as a result.
Its EMEA enterprise marketing director, Eric Velfre, said: "Virtualisation is quickly moving beyond hypervisors and hardware consolidation. Enterprises are looking for a broad array of servers, storage and services designed specifically for virtualised environments. Having led the first wave of virtualisation, today we are signalling our intent to lead the second."
