In profit by end-2008

At a visit to its Israeli facility Numonyx CEO Brian Harrison said it would move to a 45nm process and Israel production was vital to its plan to be profitable by year-end.

Fab 1 in Kiryat Gar produces NOR flash chips on a 65nm process currently. There are 1,300 employees there, a fifth of the 6,500 people in Numonyx overall. The transition to the 45nm process will place place in the second half of this year, following development work at Numonyx' R&D facility in Santa Clara, California.

Intel owns 45.1 percent of Numonyx with STMicroelectronics having 48.6 percent and the private equity firm, Francisco Partners, the remaining 6.3 percent. Numonyx is headquarted in Geneva, Switzerland. More here.
