Fujitsu's business continuity bundle

Storage arrays, replication SW, colo hosting and network bandwidth

Fujitsu in America has announced an integrated business continuity offering comprising primary and target SAN storage, network bandwidth, replication software, co-location hosting for the target storage, and three year's telephone support.

The marketing pitch is that mid-sized busineses need disaster recovery and business continuity facilities but can't afford them, partly because they have to deal with so many suppliers. So Fujitsu has set up a bundled turnkey business continuity offering called the Fujitsu Affordable Business Continuity Solution (FABCS).

FABCS includes:-

1. Primary Eternus 4000 model 300 storage area network (SAN) array featuring a hardware design with redundant and hot swap components. It is scalable to 90TB of capacity and has three tiers of storage: performance-centric SAS; capacity-centric SATA; and energy-saving MAID (with spun-down disks in Copan's Massive Array of Idle Drives technology).
2. Secondary or target Eternus 4000/300 in a remote col-location facility with one year's hosting and services.
3. Advanced Copy Management (ACM) software to provide remote mirroring.
4. WAN optimization software that can reach up to 300Mbit/s throughput for the encrypted data sent across the WAN.
5. One year of DS3 bandwidth for 465 miles from a Fujitsu partner.
6. Local on-net access charges for 12 months.
7. Installation, configuration and training services to deliver a turnkey business continuity infrastructure.
8. Three years of telephone support.

Fujitsu provides support for the entire infrastructure solution which will be available direct from Fujitsu Systems Corporation in the USA and its reseller channel.

It is certainly an impressive bundle of hardware, software, networking, hosting and services. Analyst Greg Schulz, founder of the StorageIO Group, said: "The Fujitsu approach provides all the required resiliency while eliminating the need to work with multiple vendors and the headaches of integration, support and on-going maintenance. If that were not enough, the fact that the total turnkey solution is affordable makes for a very compelling value proposition when you look at the big picture."

Dave Egan, Fujitsu's SVP for storage summed it up: "With the Fujitsu Affordable Business Continuity Solution powered by ETERNUS, these businesses can finally afford to do what their larger competitors have been doing for years, help to ensure their future viability by protecting themselves against disaster."

FABCS is available now but pricing was not disclosed.
