De-duplication 101
posted on 26 March 2008 14:19
Quantum, one of the de-dupe players, has jumped on board the Wiley publishing group Dummies bandwagon and published Data De-duplication for Dummies.
It's a Wiley special edition like the Mimosa on one E-mail Archiving.
Steve Mackey, Quantum's UK area sales director, said: “we’ve developed the Dummies guides – to offer easy-to-follow, objective and accurate information on the issue.”
It's a good marketing move. I heard a rumour that there is a Riverbed-sponsored Wiley Dummies guide entitled Patent Infringement for Dummies, which mentions the need to actually own patents before you sue a competitor for infringing them. It is just a rumour though.
