Portable external Blu-ray drive

Philips and Lite-On Digital Solutions (PLDS) will release its first Externally-attached Blu-ray drive in the second quarter of this year.
Lite-On IT bought a 49 percent share of the Philips & BenQ Digital Storage Corporation , a joint-venture of Philips and BenQ. The JV was then renaned to Philips and Lite-In Digital Solutions. The operations of PLDS will include Design, Development, Sales and Marketing of Digital IT Optical Disc Drive products, while Lite-On IT will be responsible for the manufacturing process.
The external read-only drive will use a USB 2.0 connector meaning it can connect to any PC or Mac. It will read CDs at up to 32X speed, 2-layer DVDs at 8X and Blu-ray disks at 4X.
