Tweaks mainframe VTL too
On the day IBM announced its latest 64-processor z10 mainframe it also enhanced its DS8000 storage array and TS7700 Virtual tape products.
The DS8000 is IBM'sdenterprise-class storage array and the DS8000 R3.1 version adds additional disaster recovery and business continuity features that improve its ability to work with the z10. IBM claims that, working in concert with the IBM z/OS 1.10 operating environment, customers can now manage up to four times more information in their mainframe environments than with any other storage system.
The virtual tape library product for its mainframes, the TS7700, can now make use of the TS1120 encrypting tape drive, this bring its capabilities in that respect into line with Sun StorageTek and LTO-4-using virtual tape libraries.
