DataCore and Vizioncore have partnered to produce an integrated product set that replicates server virtual machines and data and backups to a remote disaster recovery (DR) site. The idea is to make DR protection of an SMB's virtalised datacentre equivalent to the way large enterprises go about DR.

DataCore produces storage area network (SAN) virtualisation software in its SANmelody and allied products. These can be packaged as complete virtual machines in a VMware environment.

Vizioncore develops products, such as vRanger Pro for backing up and restoring virtual server environments, that protect, monitor and manage virtual machines, particularly in the areas of DR and virtualisation management

In a co-authored white paper, “A Cost-Effective DR and Offsite Backup Solution Using Vizioncore's vRanger Pro and DataCore's SANmelody with Asynchronous Replication,” the authors describe just how Vizioncore’s vRanger Pro is used for backing up virtual machines and their data at the primary data centre, while DataCore’s SANmelody is used as a SAN that offers asynchronous replication to mirror the backups to the DR site.
